Rowe Speaks Out

In his latest column in The Barrie Examiner, Scott Rowe touches on some interesting topics including contract renewals for the slots sharing program between racetracks, horsemen and the OLG

“When these contracts come up for renewal, it is not generally expected that these programs would be rescinded, but it is conceivable that the terms of the distribution could be significantly changed or amended as the government's need for tax dollars shifts to such pressing priorities as education and health care,” said Rowe.

“The added danger is the possibility of an expansion of government casinos into the general population,” he added. “As the introduction of slots at tracks has seemingly taken away horse wagering dollars, more casinos in the province will reduce the exclusive take that is enjoyed by tracks' slots that are now the only gaming opportunity in many communities.”
