Crowe's Troops Triple Up At Truro
Trainer/driver Darren Crowe had a productive Friday afternoon at Truro Raceway thanks to a hat trick performance with horses from his own barn.
Crowe took the opener with Brutusthebarbarian (1:58.1), and he returned to victory lane two races later with Caught In A Dream (1:58.3).
He also captured the $1,675 winner over feature pace with Catch Twenty Two in 1:56.3.
The seven-year-old son of Roll With Joe-Make Me Blush shot to the lead from Post 5 and sliced out splits of :28.3, :58 and 1:26.2 before using a :30.1 closing panel to win by a neck over Well Did in 1:56.3. Third prize went to Young Drunk Punk.
William Shearer, Robert Siteman, and Charles Piper, Jr. own the gelding who won for the first time this season and for the 18th time in his career. The victory pushed his earnings over $50,000.
