Shartin N Shines In Comeback
Shartin N made her return to Yonkers Raceway a winning one, with an effortless 1:52 score in the fifth race $33,000 Filly and Mare Open Pace.
Starting from post-position 8, Shartin N left the gate to drop in a four hole behind pacesetter Caviart Ally. Approaching the final turn, driver Tim Tetrick tipped the seven-year-old mare to the outside and she cruised to a length victory, paying $4.20 to win. Snobbytown was second and Caviart Ally held third.
It was the 43rd victory in 58 starts for the 2019 Horse of the Year Shartin N.
Yonkers Raceway fans will hope to see Shartin N later in the year as she returns to defend her Blue Chip Matchmaker title.
Tuesday’s Filly and Mare Open Pace posted $106,986 in wagering, the highest total since Yonkers returned from the COVID-19 stoppage.
Racing resumes Thursday (July 2) at Yonkers with three divisions of New York Sire Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies.
