'Marcs World' Bests Minnesota Breds
The Saturday (June 27) card at Running Aces featured two divisions of the sophomore Minnesota-Sired pacers, with Its A Marcs World topping the $13,800 'A' division and Nothinbutagoodtime upsetting the $9,200 'B' grouping.
Bunkerhill Phil left alertly from post 7 to take the early lead in the "A" split, with even-money favourite Its A Marcs World yielding for the pocket from post 6. Bunkerhill Phil posted moderate fractions of :28.2, :58.4 and 1:29, leading to the top of the stretch until driver Nick Roland launched from the pocket with Its A Marcs World and drew away by three lengths to a career-best 1:57.1 mile for his first pari-mutuel win.
The gelded son of Marced Card out of the Life Sign mare Lifes Image is owned by Duane Roland and trained by Jessica Johnson. The smart money poured in on the winner, bet down from a 10-1 morning line to return $4.00 to win. Second choice in the betting Bunkerhill Phil held second and was well clear of Get My Good Side who finished third.
Nothinbutagoodtime rallied in the 'B' division from last-to-first to capture his first win. Thegreatestislove led most of the way and held a game second, while race-favourite Catchmeinadream checked in third.
Nothinbutagoodtime is a son of Its That Time and is out of the Cams Cardshark mare Sweet Repeat. The winning owner is Van Otterloo Stables and the winning trainer is Gordon Graham. Dean Magee drove the $21.20 winner.
Drivers Rick Magee and Lemoyne "Moonie" Svendsen each completed a double on the card, and trainers Edwin Quevedo and Jessica Johnson also picked up doubles on the afternoon.
Live Racing returns to Running Aces on Sunday (June 28) with first post at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) and features a pair of carryover pools: $1,986.77 for the 20-cent Pick-5 Jackpot, and $1,010.65 for the 50-cent Hi-5.
