Two Horse Spill In Northlands’ Opener
A dirty break by race favourite KG Pom Pom shortly after the start of Sunday’s first race at Northlands Park led to a two-horse spill
.
Brandon Campbell hustled KG Pom Pom off the gate before the pace made a couple of bad steps and then just fell to the track. Campbell’s bike caught the wheel of Cavajestic and driver Floyd Fraess, who was thrown to the track. Campbell managed to hold on to the lines of his charge, and he did drive later on the card. Cavajestic galloped away before being apprehended by the track’s outrider, Jackie Beelby.
Northlands Park's track announcer, Shannon "Sugar" Doyle, told Trot Insider an ambulance crew quickly tended to Fraess. He was alert and sitting up following the spill, but was complaining of shoulder pain. Reports indicate Fraess was transported to hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken collarbone and a broken rib.
Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Floyd Fraess a speedy recovery.
