Tioga Open To Compelling
The betting public was all over Compelling in Monday’s $8,000 Open Trot at Tioga Downs, and the 1-9 favourite didn’t disappoint her army of pari-mutuel backers.
Compelling got away third for trainer/driver Verlin Yoder while BJ Lorado rolled to the lead and sliced out fractions of :28, :56.4 and 1:25. Compelling found clearance late and steamrolled home in :28.1 to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:53.4 over Beguin Dugoutier F. BJ Lorado settled for the show dough.
The six-year-old daughter of Swan For All-First Lady Two is now 2-for-2 this season and 15-for-54 in her career. Yoder owns the winner of $218,725.
Wally Hennessey drove three winners and Jim McDonald trained three winners on the day. They combined for wins with Caviart Reagan ($4.00), and You Said It ($7.90). Hennessey also finished first with A Fool For Mark ($18.40). McDonald's other win came with Boinganator ($4.40).
Live racing returns to Tioga Downs on Sunday (June 21) with a post time of 4 p.m.
