Spartacus Series Underway At Fraser
Fraser Downs hosted the opening leg of the Spartacus Claiming Series as part of its Sunday afternoon program, with El Paso and Stonebridge Camlot chalking up wins
in their respective divisions.
Drawing first blood was El Paso, who was much the best for trainer/driver Keith Clark. The five-year-old son of Western Hanover survived a first-over trip to beat his $8,000 foes by more than two lengths in a time of 1:57. Boiling Over was next best and Tahuya Chateau grabbed the show dough.
Clark shares ownership on the pacer with Orianna Scheck of Calgary, AB. It was the first win of the season for the 11-time winner, who has banked more than $65,000 in his career.
For the second week-in-a-row Stonebridge Camlot romped to an easy victory for trainer/driver Ed Hensley. The seven-year-old son of Camluck beat up on $6,000 foes in a November 6 assignment, and he drew away to win by more than 10 lengths over the $8,000 rivals he squared off with on Sunday. The pacer quarter-pole-moved to the lead and simply opened up en route to the 1:54.3 score over Solar Wind and Frankie Star.
Casandra Uppal of Blaine, WA holds the papers on the gelding who won for the third time this season and for the 20th time in his career. He pushed his lifetime earnings to $259,250 with the victory.
