Gold Cup & Saucer A Go For 2020

On the heels of today's announcement that Prince Edward Island's Old Home Week would be among the events cancelled by the province this year, Red Shores has issued a statement confirming that the Guardian Gold Cup & Saucer is still on tap for 2020.

"The PEI Provincial Association of Exhibitions issued a press release stating Old Home Week has been cancelled," said Red Shores in a release on Monday (May 11). "While this announcement unfortunately affects the Provincial Exhibition / Old Home Week such as the midway, horse shows and agriculture displays, this does not impact the harness racing events scheduled from August 13 to August 22 including the Guardian Gold Cup & Saucer at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

"Red Shores, along with harness racing industry officials, continue to meet on the status of the 2020 harness racing calendar and will provide further updates."

Red Shores' Charlottetown Driving Park location is slated to resume live harness racing on June 4.

I presume that means that if The Lobster Carnival, scheduled for July 9-11 in Summerside, PEI is also cancelled, the Governors Plate, scheduled for July 11 at Summerside Raceway, will still be held as well?
