Bold Eagle To Race In North America
The connections of European trotting star Bold Eagle have recently confirmed that they still plan to race the 2019 Breeders Crown winner in North America this year.
Last fall, Bold Eagle overcame the travel, the elements and the competition to win the 2019 Breeders Crown Open Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, defeating world record holders Six Pack and Atlanta in 1:52.
An invitation to continue Bold Eagle's North American stay and race in the 2019 TVG Final at The Meadowlands last fall was declined by trainer Sebastien Guarato and owner Pierre Pilarski, but Pilarski confirmed on Friday (May 8) that if conditions allow Bold Eagle will race in both Canada and the U.S. later this year.
"It is still planned that our horse, Bold Eagle, will run, if sanitary conditions allow, on September 5 in Canada, then in the USA on October 31," said Pilarski in a translated Twitter post.
These statements confirm the pre-COVID-19 commitments of Bold Eagle's connections to race the star trotter in North America this year with a return to Mohawk for the 2020 Maple Leaf Trot.
“We already had in mind to return to North America," said co-owner Thomas Bernereau in early March. "It will be the first event of the season he will compete across the Atlantic, before defending his title in the final of the Breeders Crown. These two races fit well into his program. We will try to do as well as last year. ”
