NJ-Breds Top Averages At Harrisburg Sale

New Jersey topped the yearling price averages for the recently concluded Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg

, Pennsylvania.

The New Jersey-sired yearlings averaged $40,882 (237 yearlings for $9,689,000) with Ontario-breds in second with an average of $34,967 (91 yearlings for $3,182,000), followed by New York with $29,965 (287 yearlings for $8,600,000) and Pennsylvania with $27,345 (461 yearlings for $12,606,000).

During the November 2-5, 2009 yearling portion of the sale, 1,086 horses passed through the ring, selling for $34,308,000, an average of $31,591.

New Jersey-sired yearlings topped three of the four gait and gender categories.

The highest priced trotting colt yearling at $325,000 was Valley High from the first crop of Chocolatier, who stands at Southwind Farms in Pennington, New Jersey.

Look And Listen, the half sister to Meadowlands Pace winner Well Said, topped the pacing fillies’ category at $300,000. She is a daughter of Rocknroll Hanover who stands at Perretti Farms in Cream Ridge, New Jersey, and was co-bred by Fair Winds Farm of Cream Ridge. Four of the top five fillies were by Rocknroll Hanover, including Arockalpyse Wow at $120,000, Rocker Mom at $110,000 and Stillrocknrolltome at $100,000.

Rocknroll Hanover was also the sire of the top three pacing colts who sold – Rock Camroller at $310,000, Titan Blue Chip at $210,000 and Stoneroll Jackson at $155,000.
