Gary Player: Industry Must Unite

In a recent interview with Reuters, iconic professional golfer Gary Player has gone on the record as saying that what the horse racing industry needs during these tough economic times is for people to unite

.

Among many other other things in the Reuters article, the 74-year-old Player, owner of the thoroughbred breeding operation Gary Player Stud Farm, said, "we go through phases in life but I believe what the horse racing industry needs right now is a convention of people -- the media, breeders and businessmen -- all with one purpose in mind.

"What do we do to improve the horse industry? I've got ideas and there are so many other ideas out there. Above all, I firmly believe we've got to bring the youth in."

A recent Trot Blog entry by top Canadian trainer Jack Darling has also offered many opinions and generated much feedback on what proactive steps should be taken to aid the horse racing industry at the present time.
