Glorious Indian Summer weather greeted the participants in four qualifying tilts at Mohawk Racetrack this morning

Trotters were first up, with Ben Wallace trainee, Sand Wyndham (Paul MacDonell), overtaking pacesetter Limbo Glide (Mario Baillargeon) in a smart :27.4 final quarter, to win in 1:59.2. A four-year-old son of Pegasus Spur owned by Brad Grant of Milton, Ontario, Sand Wyndham was fourth in his last pari-mutuel effort, on Halloween night at Woodbine, and has amassed four wins in 22 tries this year.

Charlie Leru, a four-year-old Florida-bred pacing gelding by Raging Glory, pocket-sat behind Phil Hudon and Shaws Creek Maddy in the second contest, then stepped out to win by two lengths in 1:57.4 for John Kovacs. Trained and co-owned by Don Graham, the seal-brown gelding's last five starts have been at Flamboro.

What A Muscle self-destructed in the stretch for trainer/driver Rick Zeron in the third qualifier, allowing Phil Hudon to move PC Troubadour up for the win in 2:01.2. Peter Clements bred, owns, and trains PC Troubadour, a three-year-old trotting son of Roadshow Hall who improved on last Friday's qualifying performance in which he broke stride at the start and finished well-distanced. The gelding has assembled a record of 2-4-1 in 14 starts this year.

In the final qualifier, rookie pacing colt Ourboyjosh made his career debut a winning one, stopping the timers in 1:59.2 for driver Randy Waples. Ourboyjosh showed true grit as he dueled in the stretch with Lucky Cheryl (Al Hamilton) and prevailed by one and a quarter lengths. He is a two-year-old son of Western Terror, trained by Mark Austin and owned by Mike Cecile of Windsor, Ontario.
