The last track conducting live harness racing in North America during the COVID-19 pandemic has been forced to shut down.
"By order of the Sacramento Health Department, racing is immediately suspended at Cal Expo," said track General Manager Chris Schick in a Twitter post on Wednesday (April 1).
The California oval was conducting races without allowing fans and patrons into the grandstand and had recently been approved to shift to a Tuesday-Wednesday schedule.
