Burke Collects Three At Pocono

North America’s leading trainer Ron Burke collected three training wins through the first 10 races Friday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs

.

In the $25,000 claiming pace feature it was Derek Bromac N winning in 1:52.4.

Andrew McCarthy was in the sulky with Derek Bromac, a nine-year-old gelding that was winning for the ninth time in 37 starts in 2009.

Lindys Bandit, a five-year-old Bettors Delight gelding with Anthony Napolitano in the sulky, was another Burke winner. Lindys Bandit stopped the timer in 1:51.4 and won for the fourth time in 14 outings this season.

Burke’s third victory came in the 10th race with No Nonsense Yankee, a six-year-old pacing gelding. This was the second win in seven starts for No Nonsense Yankee, who stopped the timer in 1:54.2.

Joe Pavia Jr., the meet’s leading driver, had a driving triple on the 14-race card pushing his season’s total to 229. George Napolitano, Jr., and Anthony Napolitano also had driving doubles Friday evening.

Trainer Randy Castellani, who is one of the co-hosts of the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs harness racing show, collected a training win with trotter Fleetwood Liz. Eric Goodell left quickly from the seven hole and scored a wire-to-wire victory with Fleetwood Liz in a $7,000 claiming trot race.
