The inaugural painting of the Standardbred Retirement Foundation’s 'Harness Horse Masterpiece Collection' sold at the Harrisburg Sale to a tremendous fan of Muscles Yankee, Bill Perretti

.

“It is touching to know that those whose lives have been touched by this great stallion were so generous when bidding for his artwork,” expressed SRF president Paula Campbell.

Among those bidding were a few folks who know the stallion well, Bill Weaver, Bill Perretti, and Frank Antonacci. When the hammer fell, it fell generously at $12,000.

“We are grateful not only for the idea but for the efforts of Lella Montgomery and Ellen Manzi, who spearheaded this new fundraiser for SRF,” explained SRF trustee Judy Bokman.

“We started with the idea of a simple watercolor and it became a Picasso of sorts. I brought every possible medium for 'Muscles' to create with to the farm. The location itself was inspiring and then you engage yourself with a majestic animal like Muscles, what else could come of that other than a 'Michelangelo.' We are grateful to Bill and Anthony Perretti’s generosity and special friendship, and are pleased to have the inaugural piece at the home of this great stallion with many talents.”
