Racing At Hawthorne Halted
In accordance with the recommendation of Governor J. B. Pritzker, live racing at Hawthorne Race Course will be halted for a minimum of two weeks.
In an effort to fight the spread of COVID-19, gatherings across the country are being limited. Per Governor Pritzker’s directive, there will be no live racing conducted at Hawthorne through Monday, March 30. At that time further guidance will be given.
The backstretch at Hawthorne will remain open for licensed personnel only to provide care to the horses on the grounds of Hawthorne Race Course. Horses will be allowed to train on the racetrack during regular training hours.
The grandstand at Hawthorne, and all Club Hawthorne off track wagering locations will be closed during this two-week period. Additionally, during this two-week period no horses will be allowed to ship onto the grounds of Hawthorne Race Course. Horses that leave the grounds will not be allowed to return until restrictions are lifted.
