Racing In Ohio To Continue
A release issued on Saturday (March 14) by the Ohio Harness Horsemen's Association confirms that harness racing will continue at the state's active racetracks.
The release from the Ohio Harness Horsemen's Association follows, with additional statements from Miami Valley Racing & Gaming and MGM Nortfield Park.
Racing In Ohio To Continue
There has been clarification from the Ohio State Racing Commission in regard to the continuation of live harness racing in Ohio. At this time all racing can proceed.
This clarification authorizes the continuation of racing with simulcast-only wagering in place, racing personnel to de minimis levels of only those required, the closure of racing locations to live spectators, and a reduction of horsemen in their paddock workplace to only those that are necessary and essential to race.
Please recognize that in the paddock, as with any workplace, you should maintain social distancing (approximately six feet away from other people) whenever possible, continue to wash hands, maintain proper respiratory etiquette, and above all self-quarantine if you experience any illness symptoms at this time. Thank you for your patience as we continue to proactively monitor and review this situation.
Miami Valley Will Continue Racing
Miami Valley Raceway will continue to present live racing, including tonight (Sat., March 14), but without live fans as the grandstand remains closed. Only absolutely essential participants with a horse in the current program are permitted in the paddock.
The Miami Valley export simulcast signal will be available.
Live Racing Continues at MGM Northfield Park
MGM Northfield Park WILL race its live card on Saturday (March 14) as scheduled, with a 6:00 p.m. first race post time. However, no fans will be permitted in the racetrack. Only essential personnel needed to race (trainers, drivers and grooms with horses in-to-go tonight) will be permitted on the backstretch.
MGM Northfield Park's races can be watched live at northfieldpark.com and on all major ADW platforms.
