Harrington Meet A Month Away
Harrington Raceway will open for its 74th season of live racing on April 13.
A total of 65 days are scheduled for Delaware’s half-mile racetrack, with a nightly post time of 4:30 p.m., except for the July 30 Governor’s Day program during the Delaware State Fair (special 7 p.m. post time).
Live racing will be conducted on Monday through Wednesday evenings most of the season, except for the last week of June and first week of July, when the track takes its customary summer break prior to the Delaware State Fair. Racing will resume on Mondays and Tuesdays from Aug. 17 until Sept. 7, when racing will return to a Monday-through-Wednesday slate for the balance of the meet, which concludes on Oct. 21.
The $150,000 Bobby Quillen Memorial, the track’s signature race, will take place on Sept. 21. The Quillen has featured some of racing’s top horses over the years, including Foiled Again, the richest standardbred of all time, and 2015 Horse of the Year Wiggle It Jiggleit.
Racing applications are currently available online and are due April 1.
The first qualifying races will be held on April 8 and will be drawn on April 7.
