Sirius Star Coasts In London
Race-favourite Sirius Star took command early and maintained control through the finish to take the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday (March 10).
Driver Mike Horner sent the Mark Horner trainee for the front and landed ahead of Casino Classic settling for the pocket. Sirius Star led mostly uncontested through splits of :28.2, :58.1 and 1:27.4 with Casino Classic supplying a minor challenge when pulling first over heading to three-quarters. Into the stretch Sirius Star remained one-and-a-half lengths clear of Casino Classic and extended her advantage to two lengths in progress to a 1:58.3 win. Casino Classic held second with Insicnerity rallying off cover for third.
Co-owned by Mark Horner with Douglas Wilson, Sirius Star won her second race from nine starts this season and her eighth from 25 overall, earning $62,852. She paid $4.30 to win.
