P L Jill On A Serious Roll
It’s now four wins in the last five starts for trotting mare P L Jill, who worked hard to post a 1:54 triumph for 'Team Baillargeon' in Monday’s $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Leaving from the rail, Mario Baillargeon got away third with P L Jill while Odds On Amethyst shot to the early lead before giving way to Buzz as the field proceeded into the first turn. P L Jill then popped off the rail as the opening flashed up in :27.3, and before long she found herself in the position of command.
Sent off as the 1-5 choice in the six-horse affair, the seven-year-old daughter of Kadabra-Fridays Gem cruised through middle panels of :55.4 and 1:25 before summoning up a :29-second final frame en route to posting the half-length triumph over On The Ropes. Taking home the bronze medal was Big Rich.
Ben Baillargeon trains the homebred for Prince Lee Acres, Jill Coleman and Alan Christensen. She now owns a 4-1-1 record from eight attempts this season. The 28-time winner has banked $513,693 to date.
