Jack Vernon Jets At Dover
Jack Vernon cruised to victory in the Winners Over Select Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday night (March 3).
Tim Tetrick confidently sent Jack Vernon, the 3-5 favourite, to the front and controlled the race through fractions of :27.4, :57 and 1:25 with Home N Dry in the pocket.
The field remained in single file until Bluebird Jesse pulled at the halfway point. Allan Davis sent his charge first over, but his bid stalled heading to three-quarters. Filled Donut, on cover, was forced three wide,as time was running out while Sheez On A Cruze remained on the pegs. However in the stretch, Jack Vernon strolled under minimal pressure to victory in 1:53.2 by a one-and-a-quarter lengths.
Home N Dry finished a non-threatening second for trainer Brian Malone and driver Tyler Davis. Jamin Jack sat on the rail and picked up the show spot for trainer and driver Victor Kirby.
Jack Vernon (Muscle Hill -Vernon Blue Chip-Sir Taurus) is owned by Howard Taylor and Michael Casalino Jr. Dylan Davis was the trainer and Tim Tetrick drove.
Shartin N returns to the races in the $50,000 Mares Invitational on Wednesday night (March 4). It will be the 12th race on the card. Post time is set for 4:30 p.m.
Then on Thursday (March 5), Backstreet Shadow and Jesse Duke N will collide in the $50,000 Invitational Pace. Both pacers enter off three-consecutive victories.
Backstreet Shadow, trained by Ron Burke, earned his victories at Dover Downs and has been assigned post 8. In two of his wins he paced in under 1:49.4. Jesse Duke N, who dominated his fields at the Meadowlands, is trained by Chris Ryder and drew post 7. He paced final quarters of :26 in all three of his recent victories.
Bettor Memories, also competing, finished second to Backstreet Shadow and took a lifetime mark at Dover Downs. Franco Totem N and Harambe Deo ship in from the Meadowlands where they raced against Preferred company.
