Dover Track Record For Tight Lines
Tight Lines equalled a track record en route to victory in the Open Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday night (Feb. 18).
JL Cruze blasted off the gate and set fractions of :26.3, :55.2 unchallenged. Joey Bats, the even-money favourite, settled in the pocket while the field remained in single file until Tight Lines hustled off the pegs and raced first over for driver Corey Callahan nearing three-quarters in 1:23.1.
Tight Lines cleared and took the lead at the top of the stretch. Jack Vernon followed second over with Joey Bats trapped on the pylons. At the finish, Tight Lines prevailed by one-and-three-quarter lengths. Joey Bats found room late and finished second while Jack Vernon took third.
Tight Lines is owned by Jeff Gregory, Jesmeral Stables and W.H. Richardson. Corey Callahan drove for trainer Jeff Gregory. Off at 9/5, the seven-year-old son of Yankee Glide equaled the track record of 1:51.2 for aged trotting geldings at Dover Downs.
Tim Tetrick won four races and Corey Callahan won three races on the card.
Dover Downs expresses condolences to the Andrew Harris family. Andrew’s wife, Amanda, passed away on Feb. 15. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
