Jay Eye Em Swoops To Flamboro Score

Launching off cover into the final turn, Jay Eye Em edged clear of his competition to take the $8,500 Horses and Geldings Preferred 3 Pace at Flamboro Downs on Sunday (Jan. 26).

Par Intended protected position from the pylons and led the field by the quarter in :28.3. Toot Toot N tipped first over from third to press the pacesetter past a :58.4 half and drew onto even terms by three-quarters in 1:27.2, where Jay Eye Em ripped wide from fifth. The four-year-old Big Jim gelding swept to the lead into the stretch and extended to a three-and-three-quarter length victory in 1:57. Deetzy closed for second with pocket-sitter Paparazzi Hanover finishing third.

Co-owned by trainer Rachel Andrews with driver Travis Cullen, Jay Eye Em won his 12th race from 48 starts, earning $86,941. He paid $8.10 to win.

Earlier on the card even-money favourite Neon Lights ventured first over to win the $8,500 Preferred 3 Handicap Trot in 1:58.3.

Monopoly cleared command from post 7 past a :28.3 first quarter, seating Irish Thunder in the pocket. Neon Lights raced fifth as driver Scott Young angled the six-year-old Chapter Seven gelding off the pylons approaching a :58.4 half and soon ranged towards the leader nearing three-quarters in 1:29.1. Monopoly maintained a narrow lead around the final turn until Neon Lights edged past in the stretch to win by a length. Irish Thunder took third.

Owned by La Ferme Tag Inc. and Les Ecuries Gld Inc., Neon Lights won his 20th race from 82 starts, earning $203,516. Gerard Demers conditions the $4.10 winner.
