Another Five For Red-Hot Campbell
After producing a seven-win performance last Friday at Fraser Downs, driver Brandon Campbell showed an affinity for the winner's circle once again by capturing nearly half the Friday (Jan. 18) card at the B.C. oval to put his seasonal total atop the nation.
Campbell kicked off the night's action with a win courtesy Jenn On The Rocks (2:00, $4.60) and closed the card with a narrow victory aboard Mr Saturday Night (1:58.1, $4,80). He also had his photo taken with Chase The Ace in the sixth race (1:57.3, $2.50), Mc Twisted in the seventh (2:02, $4.00) and repeat $10,800 Fillies & Mares Open winner Paperback Thriller (1:56.4, $11.00) in the ninth.
With 12 wins over the last two Fridays alone, Brandon Campbell sports 20 wins on the season -- tops in Canada this year to date, three more than the 17 tallies of Ontario's Brett MacDonald and fellow western Canadian Kelly Hoerdt. Campbell's UDRS is a sharp 0.590 thanks to a 20-13-5 summary from just 49 starts, and that average is tops in North America as of press time.
Hoerdt sits second in UDRS as well thanks to a 17-9-8 summary from 47 starts, good for a 0.525 average. Three of those 17 wins came courtesy his own stable on Friday night. Spiderdman (1:56.3, $2.30) captured the second dash, Thankyaverymuch (1:56.2, $4.00) wired the fourth race field for his fourth straight win and the Hoerdt hat-trick was completed in the tenth race with Go Nine O (1:56., $4.40).
