Scott Young notched the 1,000th driving win of his career in Wednesday evening's (Jan. 15) featured $11,500 Preferred 2 Handicap Trot at The Raceway at Western Fair District, piloting Absolut Seelster ($3.40) to a second straight win against London's top trotters.

Young, who began his driving career in 2010 and completed his first decade in the sulky with three straight million-dollar seasons, blasted to the front with Absolut Seelster from the outside in the field of six, and the pair worked to clear Power And Grace (Lormer McClure) before exiting the first turn before controlling first-lap splits of :28.3 and :59.4.

In the second circuit, the seven-year-old Angus Hall mare was faced with a first-over challenge from 18-1 long shot Sizzlen Hot Herbie (Natasha Day), who angled out from fifth with five-eighths to go and advanced steadily to prompt a :29.4 third quarter. Absolut Seelster held her ground to prevail by a half length in 1:59.4, while Sizzlen Hot Herbie held second. Power And Grace finished a one-paced third from the pocket.

Benoit Baillargeon trains 33-time winner Absolut Seelster for Thomas and Elizabeth Rankin.

In the sub-featured $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot, Sicario ($6.70) made every call a winning one, rating a :59 first half before parrying the first-over attack of Seeeyou Men by a diminishing head to win in 1:58.1. Alfie Carroll drove the five-year-old Holiday Road gelding, now an 18-time winner, for trainer Richard Moreau and the partnership of Pamela and John Hehn and Rick Rier.

Kyle Bossence led the undercard with a training treble, finding the winner's enclosure with all three of his starters on the 11-race card. Bossence won both races contested at 1-1/16 miles, sending Bs Tyrrific ($6.20, 2:06.4) and Phone In ($28.70, 2:05.3) to victory along with Goldinthebadlands ($5.90, 1:57.4) over a flat mile in the 10th race. Colin Kelly drove all three of Bossence's winners.
