Glider Man Marches At Flamboro
Dashing through the open stretch, Glider Man snared the $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot at Flamboro Downs on Sunday (Jan. 12).
Driver Paul MacKenzie ducked into the pocket with Glider Man while pylon-starter Its Huw You Know led the field through early fractions of :29.1 and :59.3. Race-favourite Ionia tipped first over from third on the second circuit to pressure the pacesetter towards three quarters in 1:29, but stalled into the final turn. Its Huw You Know maintained control briefly through the stretch until MacKenzie shot Glider Man inside and right by to win by a length in 1:58.4. Ionia gave chase in third.
Owned by Jennifer Doyle and Danny Birt, Glider Man won his 11th race in what was his 70th career start, and pushed his overall earnings to $87,905. Randy Van Meer trains the $20.50 winner.
Bugsy Maguire bolted for the front and wired his competition in the $8,500 Horses and Geldings Preferred 3 Pace with a 1:54.3 mile.
Trainer-driver Austin Sorrie secured the top heading to a :28 opening quarter with Hes Got Swagger sitting second. The six-year-old Bettors Delight gelding continued on the lead uncontested through middle splits of :57.3 and 1:26.2 in progress to a two-length victory. Hes Got Swagger chased and finished second. Favourite Mongolian Hero N kicked from second-over to finish third.
