Screen Test Solid In CDP Feature
The trip was a tough one for Screen Test in Thursday’s feature race at the Charlottetown Driving Park, but it didn’t stop the odds-on favourite from finding his way to victory lane for the second straight start.
A 1:57.4 winner just five days earlier, Screen Test got away third in Thursday’s $2,650 affair for driver Corey MacPherson who had his charge on the move from first over as the field neared the half. Hes Marvalous kicked out first-half fractions of :29.2 and :59.1, but Screen Test brushed to the front at the three-quarter marker in 1:28.1. He then used a :28.3 closing quarter to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Winter Blast in 1:56.4. Rockin Indy was third.
Stevie Gass trains the four-year-old son of Vertical Horizon-Starring Role for Kickin Horse Stable and William Andrew. The gelding has racked up nine wins this year and 16 to date while banking just over $95,000.
Marc Campbell had a productive day at the office thanks to his four trips to victory – three of which came behind horses from his own stable.
He went wire-to-wire with Messier Seelster (2:03.3) in Race 2 before returning to victory lane with that one’s stablemate, Dreamfair Van Dam (2:00.1), in Race 7. He catch-drove Santana Sass to a 1:58.3 triumph in Race 9 for trainer Nick MacGillivray before capping off his afternoon with a 1:58.4 win behind Jetster in Race 14.
