Au Revoir Pace At Monticello Friday

Monticello Raceway will be presenting the Au Revoir Invitational Pace on Friday, December 27, as the track’s race secretary, Eric Warner, has been able to secure a field of six aged pacers.

The six 14-year-olds are from all over the state of New York, and the field will be battling for the winner’s share of the $5,000 purse. The six hardened campaigners, all of which are geldings, collectively have combined earnings of $2,364,887 and have made 292 trips to the winner’s circle.

The fastest and richest of the participants is Lucky Man, a former $90,000 yearling that has lifetime earnings of $1,339,167 and a lifetime mark of 1:49.1, which he recorded at Mohawk Racetrack as a five-year-old. The son of Camluck is still on top of his game. He scored at Vernon Downs this year in 1:52.2 and has made eight trips to the winner’s circle this season for trainer-driver Jennifer Lappe. Lucky Man will start from Post 6 on Friday.

The morning line favourite is the Saratoga invader Flem N Em N. He has been a model of consistency this year, as he has finished second 13 times in 2019. Jim DeVaux will drive the son of Courage Under Fire for trainer Gary Levine.

The event has been carded as Race 8 on the 11-dash program.

The card will kick off with a 12:20 p.m. post time.
