Willyorwonthe Wins Flamboro Feature
Bill Megens trainee Willyorwonthe wired his competition to take the $11,500 Preferred 2 Trot at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Dec. 22.
Driver Alfie Carroll grabbed command with Willyorwonthe before a :29 first quarter and faced little challenge from there. He trotted through a :59.3 half and three-quarters in 1:29.3 in progress to a length-and-a-quarter victory in 1:58.4 over Seeyou Men, who overtook pocket-sitter Power And Grace for second.
A six-year-old gelding by Angus Hall, Willyorwonthe won his 15th race from 41 starts this season and his 37th from 152 overall, earning $350,965. Megens owns the $5.40 winner.
Keep Coming steamed off cover to take the $11,500 Horses and Geldings Preferred 2 Pace by three-quarter lengths in 1:54.3.
Race-favourite Deetzy pressed Toot Toot N for the lead passing a :27.2 first quarter but Toot Toot N soon retook the lead moving for the stretch first time. Pro Beach then tipped first over from fourth approaching a :56.3 half with Keep Coming second over and Uf Bettors Hanover third over.
The outer flow advanced towards Toot Toot N nearing three-quarters in 1:25.3 but stalled around the final turn. Into the stretch driver Travis Cullen kicked Keep Coming off cover and swooped to the lead heading to the finish, holding off a charge from Uf Bettors Hanover with Racemup taking third.
Co-owned by trainer Rachel Andrew with Travis Cullen, Keep Coming won his fifth race from 17 starts this season and his 22nd from 113 overall, earning $131,693. The six-year-old Mystery Chase gelding paid $11.50 to win.
Odds-on favourite Neon Lights ventured first over to down his rivals in the $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot.
Lets Leavem led the field by the quarter in :28.2 while Fly Beyond left from post 8 and parked, ranging towards the tempo setter nearing a :58.4 half. Driver Robert Shepherd tipped Neon Lights onto the back of Fly Beyond moving to lap two and circled the five-year-old Chapter Seven gelding around tiring cover heading to three-quarters in 1:27.1. Neon Lights cruised into the stretch and stopped the clock in 1:57, finishing two lengths better than Fly Beyond with Lets Leavem in third.
Owned by La Ferme Tag Inc. and Les Ecuries GLD Inc., Neon Lights won his sixth race from 29 starts this season and his 19th from 78 overall, earning $190,446. Gerard Demers conditions the $3.60 winner.
