Filion Shines Under Friday Night Lights
Driver Sylvain Filion closed out Friday night's 11-race card at Woodbine Mohawk Park in the exact same place he started it... the winner's circle.
Filion worked out the winning trip in the opener aboard two-year-old pacing filly Cantstopthefeelin ($12.20) for trainer Kyle Reibeling and his son Braiden, who is recovering from injuries sustained in an automobile accident last month.
Filion, who is the second-leading money-earning driver in Canada through 2019 topping the $6 million mark, was in the zone and swept the late Daily Double as the only driver to earn multiple wins on the program. He picked up the mount on the Gregg McNair-trained sophomore pacing filly Kylie Seelster ($4.20) and was back in the bike behind the eight-year-old claiming pacer E L Wild Spirit ($7.40) for trainer Patrick Shepherd. The Filion Daily Double paid $18.30.
The Jackpot Hi-5 wager in the final race was suspended and will be offered with a mandatory payout on Saturday night. The carryover heading into the mandatory payout will be $180,992.59.
