'No Contest' Declared At Western Fair
Friday night's sixth race at The Raceway at Western Fair District was declared a 'No Contest' following a mid-race incident.
Coming off the turn approaching the half-mile mark, the Patrick Shepherd-trained HP Pandora (Drew Neill) choked while racing on the lead and veered toward the infield colliding with a sign. April Bandit (Scott Coulter) was caught to her inside but managed to avoid collision as she was pulled up.
The race was subsequently declared a 'No Contest' as the fallen horse was assisted and the rest of the field pulled up without incident.
Track announcer Shannon 'Sugar' Doyle reported via Twitter that all horses and drivers were fine.
As a result of the 'No Contest,' pari-mutuel wagers on the race totalling $28,228 were refunded.
