Pro Beach Breezes In Flamboro Preferred

Somebeachsomewhere gelding Pro Beach grabbed control early and strolled to a 1:57.2 win to take the $11,500 Preferred 2 Handicap Pace on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Flamboro Downs.

The four-year-old Richard Moreau trainee moved by pylon-starter Beachin Lindy to control the pace heading to a :28.2 first quarter. He continued unchallenged through a :58.2 half and turned away a first-over bid from Big Mach N at three-quarters in 1:28. Through the stretch Pro Beach slid clear of Beachin Lindy to win by two-and-a-quarter lengths with Racemup coming from second over for third.

Owned by Sylvain Descheneaux, GAAR Racing Stables and Gaston Bibeau, Pro Beach won his second race from 21 starts this season and his fifth from 48 overall, earning $149,694. Brett MacDonald drove the $7.70 winner.

Willyorwonthe wired an abbreviated field in the $11,500 Preferred 2 Handicap Trot. The William Megens owned-and-trained son of Angus Hall took command from post 3 and faced no pressure through fractions of :28.2, :59.1 and 1:29.4. The six-year-old scooted away from pocket-sitter Lady Caterina in the stretch to win by two-and-a-quarter lengths in 2:00.2.

Winning his 13th race from 38 starts this season, Willyorwonthe also won his 35th race from 149 overall, earning $338,085. Alfie Carroll drove the $2.60 winner.

Ole Jack Magic sprung a 26-1 upset as the second-longest shot on the betting board in the $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot.

Driver Anthony Haughan positioned Ole Jack Magic third as Azucar cleared the lead from the pylon post heading to a :29 first quarter. Pound Sterling rode the pocket while Azucar continued on the lead through a :59.2 half. Haughan sent Ole Jack Magic after the leader nearing three-quarters in 1:29.3 and overtook Azucar through the stretch to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths in 2:00.2. Pound Sterling settled for third.

An eight-year-old gelding by Kadabra, Ole Jack Magic won his seventh race from 36 starts this season and his 28th from 165 overall, earning $392,463. Boyd Wilson conditioned the $55.20 winner.

Deetzy darted away from his competition to win a blowout 1:55 mile as the 3-2 favourite in the $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace.

Sitting fourth to a :28 first quarter, Deetzy dashed for the lead past a :57.4 half and overtook pacesetter Paparazzi Hanover heading to the far turn. Deetzy opened three lengths past three-quarters in 1:26.1 and through the straightaway widened to an eight-and-three-quarter length margin over Boomboom Ballykeel taking second. Levis Day finished third.

A seven-year-old gelding by Jeremes Jet, Deetzy won his sixth race from 23 starts this season and his 29th from 174 overall, earning $446,284. Dave Menary trains the $3.10 winner for owner Holland Racing Stable.
