Dizzy Dean Darts In Century Milers
Odds-on favourite Dizzy Dean launched off cover to take the lone division of the second preliminary for the Century Milers Series for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Saturday, Nov. 30 at Century Mile.
Kingofthewest took command with Hf Opects Trident sitting second heading to a :31 first quarter. Dizzy Dean sat sixth while Kingofthewest continued uncontested towards a 1:01.2 half until driver Michael Hennessy tipped wide around the far turn.
Presidents Rescue stalled first over with Dizzy Dean on his back passing three-quarters in 1:31.2. Kingofthewest held control into the stretch but failed to hold off Dizzy Dean’s stretch rally. The Rod Hennessy trainee recouped six lengths through the lane to win by a length in 2:01.2 with Hf Opects Trident taking second. Kingofthewest faded to third.
Co-owned by Rod Hennessy with Lorne Duffield, Dizzy Dean won his third race from four starts, earning $8,500. The Vertical Horizon colt paid $2.60 to win.
