‘Easy Lover’ Lunges To Win Preferred
Dashing off a helmet, the second-betting favourite Easy Lover Hanover landed in front of his cover on the finish to take the $34,000 Preferred Pace in 1:51.4 on Saturday, Nov. 30 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Driver Bob McClure pulled Easy Lover Hanover to race last of the sextet while Kendall Seelster battled with Pointomygranson to a :25.4 opening quarter. Pointomygranson ducked into the pocket moving to the backside but Physicallyinclined then rushed from third to the lead as the tempo decelerated towards a :56.1 half.
East End angled first over heading to the far turn with Easy Lover Hanover on his back. Physicallyinclined maintained command as East End drew alongside passing three-quarters in 1:25.1 but folded on the lead turning into the stretch. East End held control through the lane until McClure motored Easy Lover Hanover off his cover’s helmet and edged to the lead late, winning by a head. Ellis Park also closed to take third.
A six-year-old gelding by Somebeachsomewhere, Easy Lover Hanover won his ninth race from 24 starts this season and his 43rd from 108 overall, earning $1,024,023. Ben Wallace trains the $4.90 winner for owner Brad Grant.
