Gagnon Puts On Clinic At Rideau
It was a solid Thursday evening at the office for veteran horseman Guy Gagnon, who had five driving wins and a training hat trick on the 10-race card at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Gagnon catch-drove Shes Got Game to a 1:58 triumph in Race 2 for trainer John MacMillan, and he also took the final in catch-driving fashion with C L Art Magic (1:57.4) for trainer Jean Serge Brazeau. The rest of his wins came behind horses from his own barn.
He captured Race 6 with Outlaw Turn N Burn (1:55.4) before finding his way to victory lane with Miss Rockadali (1:55.4) in Race 7. A wire-to-wire triumph with Singhampton Kenny (1:56) in Race 9 completed the driving Grand Slam and the training triple.
The Gatineau, QC horseman lifted his yearly win totals to 187 (driving) and 85 (training), while his lifetime totals climbed to 5,296 (driving) and 1,459 (training). He surpassed $25 million in career earnings as a driver earlier this season, while his lifetime earnings as a trainer surpassed the $7 million mark earlier this year.
