The Central Ontario Standardbred Association has announced that it will soon be providing insurance for race bikes.

Beginning January 1, 2020, COSA will be providing coverage against damages to race bikes during a pari-mutuel or qualifying race at all Ontario racetracks. The coverage does not cover damaged wheels and discs.

The damage must take place from the post parade until the horse exits the racing course once the race is completed. An accident report must be received from the track. Proof of ownership is also required.

The owner of the race bike must be a member of COSA to receive the coverage.

Maximum coverage will be up to $2,500.
