Woodmere Wyldstyle Wires London Foes
Odds-on favourite Woodmere Wyldstyle turned away all challengers as she scooted to a 1:58 victory in the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Driver Tyler Borth pushed the four-year-old Articulator mare from the pylon post for the lead with second-tier starter Alphabet Queen securing the pocket. Woodmere Wyldstyle took the field past the quarter in :29.2 but faced a first-over challenge from New Billionaire moving to the half in :59.2.
New Billionaire inched closer to the front and matched strides with the pacesetter passing three-quarters in 1:28.3 but began to retreat into the final turn. Woodmere Wyldstyle separated from her competition as the backfield circumvented New Billionaire turning for the finish. The Gordon McDonnell trainee hit the finish three-and-a-quarter lengths in front of Sweet Ana Hanover closing from third over for second with Alphabet Queen giving chase in third.
Co-owned by McDonnell with Douglas Good, Woodmere Wyldstyle won her eighth race from 36 starts this season and her ninth from 67 overall, earning $92,582. She paid $3.80 to win.
