Henderson On Hiawatha Possibilities
It was recently announced that slot machines are expected to return to the Hiawatha Horse Park by January 31, 2019. Now, Hiawatha owner Jim Henderson has commented on some of the additional amenities that could also be coming to the Sarnia facility in the future.
According to a recent article by The Sarnia Journal, Henderson has said that more than just slot machines could possibly be coming to his facility.
Henderson was cited as saying that he has never seen so much interest in his facility, which is surely part and parcel to the reintroduction of slots machines.
“I’ve got people who want to build a hotel talking to me,” Henderson was quoted as saying. “There’s a restaurant chain that’s interested and a box store.
“They’ve got the paperwork drawn up already, and the hotel chain is a solid company from Toronto.
“With all the stuff happening at Hiawatha and in the Valley, the hotel people say they can get occupancy several nights a week.”
Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, which will be operating the new slots area, has let it be known that it is looking to hire roughly 60 employees for its Hiawatha offerings. Gateway has scheduled a job fair for December 12 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Point Edward’s Sunbridge Hotel & Conference Centre.
