On A 'Quest' For An Earnings Milestone

Rose Run Quest was left with too much ground to make up last week and had his win streak snapped at four, but his winning ways could reignite in the Sunday afternoon feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval will host a 12-race card on Sunday starting at 12:30 P.M.

Rose Run Quest is the favourite in the $3,000 Preferred Pace, slated as Race 11. Marc Campbell trains and drives the son of If I Can Dream for owner Blair Hansen of Charlottetown. Rose Run Quest was a third-place finisher behind Euchred and Woodmere Ideal Art last week but will only have to contend with one of them on Sunday as he looks to hit the $200,000 mark in career earnings. The 43-time winner currently sits eight dollars short of that plateau.

Woodmere Ideal Art was able to find a way in between the top two entries last week and will look to continue building on his impressive summary from post five on Sunday with Jason Hughes in the bike for trainer Sifroi Melanson. The son of Articulator has comfortably transitioned into aged company this year and has amassed an impressive portfolio of 32 top-three finishes from 42 starts the past two seasons.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac sees a return of Rose Run Quest’s win streak on the horizon.

“Rose Run Quest’s winning streak was halted last week but nothing lasts forever,” MacIsaac said. “The horse that controlled that one is absent today and as for this guy, the outside draw is the only real knock.”

Other entries include Screen Test (Corey MacPherson), Mick Dundee (Don MacNeill), Creepin (David Dowling) and Burn Out Hanover (Gilles Barrieau).

Zack The Men rides a three-race win streak in the afternoon back-up class in Race 7 with Dowling in the bike for trainer Elton Millar and owners Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris. Other top entries are Eagle Jolt (Campbell) and Jeb (Hughes).
