Franks Angel Repeats In Autumn Series
Franks Angel dominated the $8,500 second leg of the Autumn Series for two and three-year-old male trotters, contested on Friday evening (Nov. 15) at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Driver Jason Ryan sent the first round winner to the front from post four and never looked back en route to a second series score in 2:02.4. Dagfin Henriksen trains the two-year-old son of Archangel for owner Dr. Michael Venneri of St. Catharines, Ont. The win was the gelding's third from a dozen career starts.
Malcolm G (Brett MacDonald) overtook B Dealin (Scott Coulter) for the runner-up honours, finishing more than six lengths behind the 6-5 winner. The favoured Lmc Hope (Anthony Haughan) checked in fourth, but was placed sixth behind Well Worth It and Alvinston Joe for causing interference while on a break into the first turn.
The Autumn Series is for young Ontario-sired trotters that are non-winners of $10,000 lifetime.
