Lachance Sweeps Philly Features
Horseman Pat Lachance steered the winners of both of Harrah’s Philadelphia’s featured races on Thursday, November 14.
Credit Winner gelding Ooh Rah didn’t have to move out of third until the three quarters for driver Pat Lachance in the $18,000 featured trot. He was then able to sustain a rally to catch favoured Mississippi Storm in 1:55.1.
Millionaire DWs NY Yank raced wide early and surged to the lead before the :27.2 quarter. Mississippi Storm had been looped in the early action, but he stayed on and went to the lead in front of the stands. He then got a bit of a breather with middle fractions of :57 and 1:26.2. Ooh Rah made his move at the end of the third quarter and closed with determination to get past the chalk by a neck. Courtesy of the victory, Ooh Rah raised his lifetime earnings to $210,055 for trainer Kathleen La Montagne and fellow co-owner Donald La Montagne.
In the co-featured $14,500 trotting contest, Lachance steered Sylvesteramericait to victory. The Italian import started from the rail and went on to win in 1:54.3. Bob Baggitt Jr. trains the Varenne gelding, who is now a winner of $297,007 for owner Christine Baggitt.
Lachance and George Napolitano Jr. tied for the day’s honours with three driving wins apiece.
