Philly Hat Trick For Garcia-Owen
Gilbert Garcia-Owen padded his lead atop the Harrah's Philadelphia trainer standings with three wins on Sunday afternoon's (Nov. 10) 12-race card.
Garcia-Owen opened his training treble with a pair of pacers he owns: Persistent Threat ($6.00) rallied from the pocket to win the afternoon's third race in 1:53.4, and Abner The Great ($3.40) then posted a gate-to-wire 1:52.1 win by 5-1/2 lengths in the co-featured fourth, an upper-level claiming pace. He completed his conditioning hat trick in the finale with Ideal Wheel ($3.40), who coasted to a 3-1/2 length victory in 1:52.3 for owners Barbara and Donald Arnstine and Gilbert Garcia-Herrera.
George Napolitano Jr., who drove all three of Garcia-Owen's winners on the program, led all drivers with a grand slam on the card.
In the co-featured fifth race, a $14,500 conditioned pace, Matticulous GB ($3.00) maintained his unblemished North American record with a 1:51.1 victory over Nutcracker Sweet and Asap Hanover. Yannick Gingras drove the four-year-old Hasty Hall gelding for owner Brett Thompson and trainer Ron Burke.
The Pick-4 returned $1,529.30 on a 50-cent ticket, and the Jackpot Hi-5 carryover for Wednesday's (Nov. 13) card is $2,960.47.
