More Bold Eagle In 2020?
After his sensational North American debut in the Breeders Crown Open Trot last Saturday at Woodbine Mohawk Park, the connections of French trotting star Bold Eagle are considering more racing on this side of the Atlantic next year.
According to a report in Paris-Turf, co-owner of Bold Eagle Thomas Bernerau stated that it's "highly likely" Bold Eagle will race in the U.S. next year to defend his Breeders Crown title. The 2020 Breeders crown will be held next October at Harrah's Hoosier Park.
In addition to the Breeders Crown, Bernerau indicated that Bold Eagle could also race during the Grand Circuit meet at The Red Mile and possibly in the 2020 John Cashman Jr. Memorial (formerly the Nat Ray) at The Meadowlands.
Bold Eagle overcame the travel, the elements and the competition to win the 2019 Breeders Crown Open Trot last Saturday, defeating world record holders Six Pack and Atlanta in 1:52.
The win was the third of the year for Bold Eagle (Ready Cash - Reethi Rah Jet) from nine starts and 45th lifetime win, putting his career earnings at $5.69 million for trainer Sebastien Guarato and owner Ecurie P Pilarski of Sallanches, France. An invitation to continue Bold Eagle's North American stay and race in the 2019 TVG Final later this month at The Meadowlands was declined by the connections.
