Twice An Angel Wires Flamboro Foes
Following a pair of unsuccessful outings in Preferred 2 company, Twice An Angel ($4.30) got back in the win column with a pillar-to-post, 1:56 score in Wednesday night's (Oct. 16) $8,500 Preferred 3 for distaff pacers at Flamboro Downs.
The six-year-old daughter of Dragon Again used pole position to her advantage on the first turn, forcing even-money favourite Tables Big Secret (Robert Shepherd) into the pocket through a :28.1 first quarter. After achieving a clear lead, driver Travis Cullen rated comfortable middle splits with Twice An Angel, coasting uncontested through a :58.1 half and three-quarters in 1:27.1. Midway on the final turn, Tables Big Secret angled out of the pocket to give chase, and Cullen asked Twice An Angel for more pace off the home turn. She obliged, prevailing by a diminishing three-quarters of a length. Lo Hold A Moonbean (Colin Kelly) finished third, 2-1/4 lengths farther back, after stalking the top pair throughout.
Trainer Jodie Cullen co-owns 18-time winner Twice An Angel with Jerry Hagenaars.
