Century Mile Racetrack and Casino hosted KidSport Day on Sunday, September 22 to brighten the day for some children in the Edmonton area.

KidSport is a national non-profit designed to focus on each chapter’s local community with a network of 177 chapters across the country. They provide financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under. Since its creation in 1993 they have given the chance to play to over 750,000 kids. Their mission is to ensure no kid is left on the sidelines and that all have the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sport.

In addition to live harness racing and the sale of KidSport edition plush horse ‘Henrys’, there were a handful of kid-friendly activities on the trackside apron such as face painting, a balloon artist, an ice cream truck, and Thistle Hill Petting Zoo and Pony Rides for racing fans and their families to enjoy. All activities were by donation, with all proceeds going directly to KidSport. Before the races a number of KidSport families were invited back to the barns for a private tour with KidSport Ambassadors Dave Kelly and Mike Hennessy and some of our equine athletes.

Century Mile would like to thank KidSport, Mike Hennessy, Dave Kelly, and everyone who came out to contribute to the support of a great cause, so ALL kids can play.
