Brave World Upsets In Preferred
There were plenty of upsets on Saturday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and one of them was engineered by driver Louis-Philippe Roy in the $34,000 Preferred Handicap for pacers.
His ticket to victory lane was Brave World, and the pacer turned a ground-saving trip into a 21-1 upset in a sharp clocking of 1:51.1.
The five-year-old son of Royal Mattjesty-Fit N Bad got away third and held that position while Nirvana Seelster slaved away on the front end through fractions of :26.4, :56.2 and 1:24.1. It turned into a final quarter sprint, and it was a sprint won by Brave World who shook loose and fired home in :26.2 to win by three-quarters of a length over even-money favourite Easy Lover Hanover. Ideal Jet tagged along to finish third.
Thestable Brave World Grp of Guelph, Ont. owns the gelding who hangs his harness bag in the barn of trainer Richard Moreau. It was the seventh win of the year for the 22-time winner who is quickly closing in on $300,000 in career earnings.
It was one of three victories on the 12-race card for multiple O’Brien Award-winning trainer Richard Moreau. He also scored with American Virgin (1:50.1) and Bit Of Luck (1:51.3).
