‘Pink Out’ For Meadows Fair Finals
On Saturday, October 5, the Meadows will take on the festive atmosphere of a county fair.
On October 5, the track and the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association (MSOA) will host the $200,000 Pennsylvania Fairs championships as well as the annual Pink Out to benefit the American Cancer Society. The races will begin at 1:05 p.m.
Each of the eight championships for two- and three-year-olds carries a purse of $25,000. The championships could provide a grand finale for trainer Robert Rougeaux III and owner Brocious Racing Stable, the team behind four divisional point leaders: two-year-old filly pacer Dont Speak; sophomore filly trotter RT Gloria De Dios, and the freshman trotters Penance and Lindy Pretty Lady.
The Pink Out is the fourth presented by the MSOA and the Meadows and features these special events:
-
Mini-Pony Races. Contestants must be under 42 inches, and they must be driven by adults 18 or older unless accompanied by an adult. Entry fee, which includes a Pink Out t-shirt, is $30. The winner gets $250. Check out the MSOA’s Facebook page Thursday for results of the draw. T-shirts will be available to all for a $10 donation;
-
Chinese Auction. Prizes include a $150 Giant Eagle gift card; a Michael Kors purse; hotel stays; restaurant gift cards, and alcohol-, dog- and cat-themed gift baskets. The auction begins at 12:30 p.m., with tickets accepted until Race 9.
In addition, the MSOA will sponsor a Family Fun Day that includes a bounce house, a balloon artist, a face painter and a caricature artist.
