Forged Steel Tops Buckeye Classic Sale
Forged Steel, a colt by Domethatagain, was the sale topper at Tuesday’s (Sept. 24) fifth annual Buckeye Classic Yearling Sale, conducted by the Hoosier Classic Sale Company at the Champions Center Expo in Springfield, Ohio.
Forged Steel, the first foal out of multiple Ohio stakes winner Bell Flower, sold for $29,000 to agent Ryan Miller and was consigned by Abby Stables.
Peters Royalty, a trotting colt by Uncle Peter out of Dream Of Royalty, was the second-highest seller, as he was purchased for $28,000 by Bobby Brower. His family includes Dan Patch Award winner Dream Of Joy as well as stakes winners Tom Ridge, Soulful Delight, and Like A Dream. He was consigned by Winterwood Farm as agent for Marsh Valley Standardbreds.
Tied for the third-highest sale price were trotting fillies I Am Winning and Fanciful Invention, who each brought $25,000.
I Am Winning, by Winning Fireworks out of Iam Spikes Wish, sold to Allen Miller and was consigned by Trotting Traditions as agent for Edward Miller.
Fanciful Invention, by Triumphant Caviar out of Merrie Annabelle Stakes winner Reinvent, was purchased by Chris Beaver and was consigned by Abby Stables.
A total of 196 yearlings were sold for a gross of $1.65 million and average of $8,435. Last year, the average was $8,409 for 184 horses.
