Dot Morgan Named Lady Pace Honouree
Dot Morgan, executive director and facilities manager of the New Vocation racehorse adoption program, will be honoured as the 2019 Lady Pace Honoree by the Delaware County Fair.
A multitalented horsewoman, Morgan started the New Vocations racehorse adoption program in 1992 from her base in Laura, Ohio and continues to this day as overseer of the organization’s Standardbred division.
New Vocations takes racehorses that are no longer competitive on the racetrack and helps them find a “new vocation”, a second career, through its equine adoption program. More than 150 Standardbreds pass through New Vocations every year.
As chief administrator, Morgan visits major equine events, produces newsletters and promotional/educational materials, and aids the group’s finances with stallion auctions and the Pre-Jug Gala Benefit during Little Brown Jug week.
She was a director of the Ohio Harness Horseman’s Association for 17 years and an eight year trustee of the Christian Harness Horseman’s Association.
She was honored by the United States Harness Writers Association with their LeeAnne Pooler Unsung Hero Award in 2013. The Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association honored Morgan with the Rambling Willie Award in 2015.
