21 To Test Gator Pace Waters
An impressive collection of 21 Florida-bred two-year-old colt and gelding pacers will go to the gate Saturday, October 17, as the Gator Pace is set to kick off with three divisions at Pompano Park.
Sons of Mannart Howard owned by Rod Lorenzo and trained by his wife, Michile, will be in the spotlight, including Sunshine State Stakes winner Diamond Howard.
In the first division, a non-wagering event with a 6:40 p.m. post time, the Lou Ginesi-driven Goldstar Patriot D, a three-time winner this fall, will battle the Bruce Ranger-driven and Lorenzo-owned Doc Howard, which has finished second twice in four outings.
The second division features Lorenzo's Red Hot Howard, second to his half brother in the Sunshine State final and a three-time winner this fall.
The major matchup of the first leg comes in the third division. Lorenzo’s Diamond Howard has traded wins with the Robert Connor-trained Stiletto Jake this season. Stiletto Jake was third in the Sunshine State final.
